General Rental Terms and Conditions
Effective 15 October 2026. These terms apply to the rental of Têr d'Oci campervans; the sale of vehicles is governed by separate General Terms of Sale. This translation is provided for information only; only the French version is legally binding.
1. Purpose and parties
These terms apply to every rental of a Têr d'Oci campervan, on its own or as part of a journey (L'Escapade, Terres de mémoire, Crêtes et vignes, Le Grand voyage, Les Noëls d'Alsace) or of a three-day test drive before purchase. Any booking implies acceptance of these terms.
Lessor: Têr d'Oci, SASU (single-shareholder simplified joint-stock company) with share capital of €1,000, 29 route de Vaudeville, 88600 Aydoilles, France. Trade and Companies Register (RCS) Épinal 130 375 645. Telephone: +33 6 20 78 26 54. Email: contact@ter-d-oci.fr.
Renter: the adult individual who makes the booking and signs the rental agreement. The renter is responsible for ensuring that all passengers and drivers comply with these terms.
Campervan: the rented vehicle, with its equipment, accessories and documents. The rental agreement is the document signed when the keys are handed over, together with the check-out and check-in inspection reports. The roadbook is the travel guide provided on departure. Partner sites are the land of farmers, livestock breeders and winegrowers where the renter may stay overnight.
2. Booking, prices and payment
Bookings are made by telephone or through the website form and become final once the agreement is signed and the deposit is paid. No online payment is required.
Deposit: 30% of the total price, payable on booking.
Balance: payable no later than 30 days before departure. For bookings made less than 30 days before departure, the full amount is payable on booking.
Payment methods: bank transfer or any other method stated on booking.
If the balance is not paid by the agreed date and a reminder goes unanswered, Têr d'Oci may treat the booking as cancelled by the renter (Article 5).
Prices: prices are in euros, including all taxes, per journey, according to the season (low, mid or high) published on the website. The price confirmed in the agreement is the one that applies.
Included in the price: welcome and handover, a basket of local produce and a stocked fridge on arrival, the roadbook, overnight stays at partner sites, bed linen and towels, cleaning and washing-up products, final cleaning after return and, on request, transfer from Épinal station.
Not included: fuel, tolls, meals, concierge activities, and any fines and charges arising from use of the campervan during the rental.
Three-day test drive before purchase: the test drive is charged at the rate stated on booking. If the renter orders a Têr d'Oci campervan within 30 days of the end of the test drive, its price is refunded or deducted from the order.
3. Drivers, security deposit and use of the campervan
Drivers: each driver must be at least 25 years old and have held a valid category B driving licence for at least 3 years. Their name appears in the agreement. Driving licence and identity document must be shown on departure. An undeclared driver is not insured.
Security deposit: on departure, a security deposit of €2,500 is lodged by credit card pre-authorisation or by cheque, without being cashed. It is returned within 15 days of the return, less any amounts due under Article 4 and this article.
Handover: the campervan is handed over in Aydoilles clean, with a full fuel tank, a full fresh-water tank and an empty toilet cassette. A joint check-out report with photos is signed by both parties. The lessor explains how the campervan works.
Return: the campervan is returned in Aydoilles on the agreed date and time with a full fuel tank and an emptied grey-water tank. Interior cleaning is included; a cleaning fee may be charged if the vehicle is exceptionally dirty. A check-in report is signed by both parties. Missing fuel is charged at the market price plus a service fee.
Late return: any late return not agreed with the lessor is charged at the applicable daily rate for each day or part of a day.
Mileage: 200 km per rental day are included. Extra kilometres are charged at the rate stated in the agreement.
Pets: pets are welcome, under the responsibility of the renter, who declares them on booking. Any damage they cause and any additional cleaning may be charged.
Use of the campervan: the renter takes care of the campervan as a responsible renter would, in compliance with the Highway Code and the rules of the partner sites. The following are prohibited:
– smoking inside the vehicle;
– subletting and carrying passengers for payment;
– taking part in races or rallies, towing other vehicles and driving off-road outside authorised tracks;
– leaving French territory without the lessor's written consent;
– carrying more passengers than the number of seats stated on the registration document.
Fines, parking tickets and towing charges incurred during the rental are paid by the renter, who will be named to the authorities as the driver.
Breakdown: in the event of a breakdown, the renter immediately informs the lessor and the roadside assistance service shown in the vehicle documents. No repair may be commissioned without the lessor's consent.
4. Insurance, claims and liability
Insurance: the campervan is insured by the lessor for the drivers named in the agreement. Cover and exclusions are set out in the documents provided on departure.
Excess: in the event of damage, theft or fire, an excess remains payable by the renter. Its amount is given on booking and appears in the agreement. It is deducted from the security deposit.
Claims: the renter informs the lessor within 24 hours and, where applicable, completes an accident report with the third party. In the event of theft or vandalism, the renter files a report with the authorities and sends the receipt to the lessor.
Not covered: beyond the excess, the renter bears in full any damage caused:
– by an undeclared driver, a driver without a valid licence, or a driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs;
– by a use prohibited under Article 3;
– to the upper part of the campervan when passing under an obstacle that is too low;
– to the interior and equipment through negligence;
– by using the wrong fuel.
Personal belongings: the lessor is not liable for the theft of, or damage to, items left in the campervan.
Partner sites and concierge service: the renter respects the sites and the hosts' instructions. Activities booked through the concierge service are provided by partner service providers under their own responsibility and terms.
5. Cancellation and changes
Cancellation by the renter: must be made in writing (by email or letter). The charges retained depend on the time remaining before departure:
– more than 60 days before departure: €150 administration fee, the rest is refunded;
– 60 to 31 days: the deposit (30% of the price);
– 30 to 15 days: 50% of the rental price;
– less than 15 days, or failure to show up on departure: the full price.
The renter may take out cancellation insurance of their own.
No right of withdrawal: under Article L221-28, 12° of the French Consumer Code (Code de la consommation), the 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to vehicle rentals for a specific date.
Changes: any request to change dates is considered subject to availability. Shortening the rental period is treated as a partial cancellation.
Early termination: if the renter ends the journey early, unused days are not refunded.
Cancellation by the lessor: if Têr d'Oci is unable to provide the campervan (accident, major breakdown, force majeure), Têr d'Oci offers an alternative date or refunds all sums paid in full, with no further compensation.
6. Personal data, complaints and disputes
Personal data: the data of the renter and drivers is used solely to manage the rental. How it is processed is described in the website's legal notice.
Complaints: complaints should be sent in writing to Têr d'Oci, 29 route de Vaudeville, 88600 Aydoilles, France, or to contact@ter-d-oci.fr. Têr d'Oci replies within one month.
Mediation: if a renter acting as a consumer is not satisfied with the reply, or receives no reply within two months, they may refer the matter free of charge to the consumer mediator: CM2C (Centre de la Médiation de la Consommation de Conciliateurs de Justice), www.cm2c.net.
Governing law: these terms are governed by French law. Failing an amicable settlement, the courts with jurisdiction under the rules of the French Code of Civil Procedure shall have jurisdiction.
